San Francisco International Auto Show

Today, I attended the 2018 San Francisco International Auto Show at the San Francisco’s Moscone Center to check out the new cars for 2019.

All of them ranged from cars, pick-up trucks, SUV’s and everything in between, and the brands ranged from Ford, Chevorlet, Toyota, you name it.

Even though I don’t have a driver’s license, I still enjoy sitting in the driver’s seat in nearly every car I sat in and imagined I owned that car. In addition to finding my favorite one, I looked for cars similar to other people’s, like my friend Sam’s Toyota Camry.

If I were to pick my favorite car, it would be really difficult to decide because there’s a lot to choose from. However, my top choices would be either a Lexus GX or a pick-up truck from either Ford, Dodge, or Chevy, or Toyota, so I can carry lots of people if I’m driving.

None of my paintings or cards have cars in them because their not that easy to paint. If they did, they would definitely have a spot and people will rave about it!

Of course, this isn’t related to my art, it’s just an event I enjoy going to; and who knows, this can be a work of art!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! I’m sure you have a lot to be thankful for! Hope you eat lots of turkey and watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade and NFL games!

Happy Thanksgiving!

2018 PIA Card Sale

Today, I had my second card sale of the year at the 2018 Philippine International Aid (PIA).

When I did it last year, it was the debut of my new logo and business card so people could contact me to order new cards. In addition, I also displayed paintings from the past both through a slideshow and having the actual one.

The problem with that was the limited space that we had since I was sharing the space with someone else.

As with that sale, it was a little slow because a lot of people bought stuff from other booths and none of the paintings were sold. However, the business cards were a huge success. Plus, the set-up and clean-up took a lot of time.

This year, I only sold cards which was a better idea because it didn’t take up a lot of space and the set-up and clean-up took virtually no time at all.

However, there was a rumor that I wasn’t going to sell anything at all because a lot of people would simply walk by my booth since it was shared with another person.

At first, it started out slow; then to my surprise, I started to get some sales and in the end, I made about $40. So at least it was better than selling nothing at all!

While I was selling my cards, some people having been giving me suggestions to use my paintings in new ways, such as T-Shirts, fridge magnets, or other things along those lines.

I have been finding new ways myself and the only projects I’ve done so far were posters and calendars, and I plan to create more.

If I were to do PIA again, maybe I’ll try to get my own table so I can have more room to display my stuff without having to share a table with someone else.

To those who attended and bought cards, thank you very much and I hope you enjoy my art!

Logo Anniversary/PIA Card Sale

Today marks the one year anniversary of the Kevin’s Cards logo!

It was created in my graphic arts class at Laney College using inDesign. The design is a replication of a open greeting card with the initials K & C, although some people might refer it to as Kansas City.

This logo is used on all the new set of greeting cards and business cards, which is why the cards look better than the original ones. It also made its debut at last year’s PIA Card Sale.

Speaking of which, Kevin’s Cards will be returning to Philippine International Aid (PIA) this Sunday at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in San Francisco from 10 AM – 4 PM.

Here are some reminders of event in case you plan on going:

-Boutique Sale is Free Admission

-Luncheon/Fashion Show is $150

-Cards will sell for $1 Each or 6 for $5

This is a ONE DAY ONLY EVENT, so make sure you tell all your friends, relatives, neighbors, and colleagues because you don’t want to miss this! Hope to see you there!

Happy Veterans Day/San Mateo Harvest Festival Original Art & Craft Show

Hope everyone had a great Veterans Day!

Thank you to all our brave men and women who served in the Armed Forces to keep our country safe!

How I spent my Veterans Day was a visit to the San Mateo Harvest Festival Original Art & Craft Show. Most of the stuff I saw were previous items from the past shows and gift ideas for holiday season.

When I was at that show last year, it was the first time I bought a bottle cap design from Linda Cullen with the Sacramento Kings logo after meeting them for the first time in Pleasanton, and I still have it to this very day!

In addition to that, I’ve mentioned about ideas for new projects with sports, television, fast food, travel, and other things along those lines.

Ever since I’ve being taking graphic arts classes and using some of these ideas, I’ve created a lot of posters and making a few updates here and there using inDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, and each one has its on personality.

Some of them are currently on the website, while most of them I have to myself to look at. Every once in a while, I’ll show them to other people to see what I’ve created.

However, everyone likes my paintings the best since they’re the ones used for my greeting cards. As I said, anything I create is a work of art no matter if it’s on canvas or a computer.

Going along with my art, any art show that I’ve been to can be a great place to display my creations and sell my cards because I know people will really enjoy it. The Harvest Festival in San Mateo is one example, along with San Jose or Pleasanton.

What other show can I do it at? The best thing for me to do is to keep visiting them and to see which one would work!

2018 College Basketball Season

Tonight, the 2018 College Basketball season will kick off!

Schools from all different conferences will compete in a bunch of match-ups which range from the PAC 12, BIG 10, BIG 12, SEC, ACC, and everyone in between!

Unlike college football, there are more schools to deal with and it’s really confusing on what school is in what conference, and of course they don’t call it March Madness for nothing!

Speaking of which, it’ll be a long journey to see who will make it to the 2019 March Madness Tournament and who be crowned the next champion!

I’ve already done some projects involving these schools including A House Divided because most of the rivalries and divisions are pretty much the same with college football, but maybe I’ll try one with basketball as well, even if it takes a lot more effort!

To all the teams out there, good luck and have a great season!

Battle of the Bay Area

One of the greatest NFL rivalries the the Battle of the Bay Area between the Oakland Raiders and the San Francisco 49ers. Tonight was the match-up at Levi’s Stadium.

With both teams having poor records and only one win apiece, only one could take home their second win of the season. A lot of people were betting that the Raiders were favored to win because of 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo’s season ending injury and the fact that their backup CJ Bethard wasn’t playing well since losing six straight games.

However, it was the 49ers that pulled off a huge victory by a final score of 34-3 over the Raiders, thanks to their third string backup quarterback Nick Mullens. With that being said, the 49ers are now 2-7, while the Raiders fall to 1-7.

Along those lines of this rivalry, I’ve created A House Divided poster with those two teams since I new these two teams would face off against each other this year.

With half of the NFL season gone, the second half of the journey to Super Bowl LIII continues to see who will make it and who will take home the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
