Niles Antique Fair

Today, I attended the Niles Antique Fair in my hometown of Fremont with my friends Sam, Justin, and Anthony.

With a really early start to the day at around 6 AM, this gave us a lot of time to enjoy the whole experience and to see what kind of treasures we could find. Most of the antiques we found ranged from old school to modern, and everything in between.

Anthony got a rare Joe Montana 49ers jersey from 1989, an old school PlayStation, and a paper mache’ clown. Sam got a couple of video games from Crash Bandicoot, crash team racing, and spy hunter, a couple of local 49ers plaques of Joe Montana and Jimmy Garapollo, and some local honey. Justin got a 49ers book and some football cards.

As for me, I got a card game and an easel for future paintings to be created into the next set of greeting cards. In addition to buying stuff, a lot of the items we saw brought us back to childhood memories and flashbacks to life back as far as the early 1900s.

As I’ve mentioned before, antique fairs like this one could be one of the potential places to sell my cards and display my art. No matter what kind of art show it is, any of them could possible because you never know what you might find!

New Designs/Kevin’s Cards Calendars/Discontinued Giveaways

With a new semester under belt at Laney College, my plan is to create new designs while learning new techniques at the same time in typography and elements of graphic arts.

In the past, I’ve done some with TV, sports, and even some from Kevin’s Cards. So, why should this year be any different? It’s time to shake things up a little bit! In addition to revisiting previous designs, I also plan to update them in any imaginable way as possible.

Also, I want find other ways to use my paintings in addition to my cards. For example, I have created a new Kevin’s Cards Calendar for 2019, which was requested by Melanie Johnston’s mom at Artist Alley. This was one of the projects I had in mind since starting graphic arts and this is a great way for people to see some of my previous paintings. Of course, the cards will keep on rolling since it is one of the best sellers!

As with selling my cards, there will no longer be free giveaways starting today, which means people will now have to buy my cards. Luckily, the prices of the cards will remain the same:

$1 Each

6 for $5

Although someone requested that I should sell my cards on Etsy, it could be a consideration, but will take some time to set up!

As I begin to create and develop these projects, who knows what will be the best seller!

uCamps Alumni Reunion

The uCamps 3rd Annual Alumni Camp was originally scheduled for this weekend at Camp Jack Hazard in Dardanelle, CA. However, it was postponed due to the Donell Fire that occurred in the area, which was a huge disappointment for a lot of former campers, counselors, and staff; especially to those who were planning to travel to California for the event!

Luckily, camp director Doug Cembellin organized an alternative reunion to make up for lost time and to have a chance to reunite with everyone. The event took place at Sauced BBQ in Downtown Walnut Creek, which was a reasonable location for most people to get to.

With the extremely hot weather that occurred, I thought that only a few people were going to show up or this event was going to be cancelled too. However, to my surprise, about 25 people were able to attend, which was something I didn’t expect at all.

The alumni who attended ranged from old time campers and staff from 2003, to some newer ones as early as 2015, and everyone in between, and we basically caught up on things that’s been happening recently and of course sharing favorite camp memories.

Of course, there was plenty of delicious BBQ to enjoy since it was a BBQ joint after all! Although Doug and some people from camp came to my last card sale at Artist Alley and bought cards from me, I didn’t get a chance to bring some leftovers to distribute. However, a few people have asked me about how the sale went overall.

Following the dinner, a late night “campfire” took place at Civic Park, which was a short walk from the restaurant, and a majority of the performances were people who played on the guitar.

However, the one crazy moment was that Doug and several others requested for me to do my hypnotist shows, as I’ve been doing in the past at camp since 2012. I totally didn’t expect to do it in the first place since I wasn’t prepared at all, but I had to do it anyway! Of course, it was enjoyable!

Overall, this was definitely one of the best camp reunions I’ve ever attended! Even though we weren’t at Camp Jack Hazard in the great outdoors, it was definitely worth it because it doesn’t matter where the reunion takes place! What matters the most is that this event is about spending time together!

Special thanks to Doug Cembellin for organizing the event, and to everyone that attended! It was great seeing you guys and I look forward to reuniting with you soon and hopefully we’ll get a chance to be at the actual camp in the Summer of 2019!

Fremont Festival of the Arts

Last weekend, I attended the 35th Annual Fremont Festival of the Arts in my hometown of Fremont, CA. As with all the other ones I’ve attended, most of the stuff was pretty much the same.

The biggest surprise was seeing Linda Cullen in my own neck of the woods, and I had a feeling she wasn’t going to be there. But, hey! You never know what can happen!

For the first time since meeting her at the 2017 Harvest Festival in Pleasanton, she was able to get some of my greeting cards after creating the bottle cap necklace with the Kevin’s Cards logo. As they say, what goes around, comes around because if people do contribute to your art, you should do the same for them!

The other highlight was hanging out with my buddies Justin and Anthony during both days of the festival and they seemed to enjoy it as much as I did, even if it was really hot outside! Although I didn’t buy anything in particular, they bought some items from the Golden State Warriors and San Francisco 49ers such as a poster and a spray painting replica.

Since Fremont is my hometown, this is definitely one of the best festivals to sell my cards along with the Niles Antique Fair because it’s closer to my house and I’m sure I can get a lot of locals to come by and check out some of my works of art!

You never know what can be found at any art show or festival!

2018 NFL Preseason

Tonight, the 2018 NFL Preseason kicks off with the Chicago Bears taking on the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio.

Then, next week, the San Francisco 49ers will begin their preseason when they take on the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, and Los Angeles Chargers; while the Oakland Raiders will take on the Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Rams, Green Bay Packers, and Seattle Seahawks.

Once the preseason is over, the regular season will kick off on September 6 with the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles hosting the Atlanta Falcons. This will be a long journey to see who will face off in Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta, GA and who will be the next team to take home the Lombardi Trophy!

If you want to find your favorite team and check out some of the greatest rivalries, check out A House Divided for the NFL and also my custom-made NFL posters. In addition to my previous ones, I also plan to continue to make new designs for past Super Bowls and other things along those lines.

To all the teams out there, good luck and have a great season!
