5 Years Later/”Road to Summer” Sale Update

5 years ago, the Kevin’s Cards website was launched to display paintings and to post blogs about upcoming card sales. There has been a lot going on over the past two years!

In 2020, I planned to have new paintings displayed and to showcase my new book From Painting to Card during the Alameda County Fair. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, Kevin’s Cards went on hiatus and I took a break from social media because of posts about increases Covid cases and event cancellations.

Last year, Kevin’s Cards returned to the Alameda County Fair for the 5 Year Anniversary Sale. I didn’t think that it was going to happen at all. However, former coordinator Terri Thut emailed me asking if I was going to return. I wasn’t sure at first, but I decided to get a second chance and put Kevin’s Cards back together!

A lot of changes have been made including changing the logo, updating the business cards and brochures, and creating new paintings to display. I also made changes to my book From Painting to Card and got it published on amazonbooks.com.

Although I was in an odd location where I got a few people to visit, there have been pretty strong sales and some slow ones as well. Some of the best sellers were the new cards and the Kevin’s Cards Calendar, which officially made its debut. I was also able to sell a few copies of my book to some fair employees and visitors.

Overall, this sale was about coming back and rebuilding because if Terri hadn’t emailed me, Kevin’s Cards would likely go out of business! A month after the sale, coordinator Erika O’Bryan wrote me a letter asking if I would feature Ferris wheels or swings in my next painting. It was going to be a challenge, but I decided to take on her suggestion, which led to the idea for the “Road to Summer” Sale.

Most of the new paintings and cards will feature those elements and even buildings from the Alameda County Fair. It may not look perfect, but as Bob Ross said, “We don’t make mistakes, we have happy accidents!” I’m also including some of the paintings from previous shows so they’re not out of place! In addition, there will be calendars for 2023 and limited copies of my book From Painting to Card

My goal is to have a strong sale by having an award winning booth design, reasonable prices, an in-depth interview, and strong conversations with customers because I really want them to hear my story and the long journey I went through to get this far!

Anyone whose planning to attend, it’ll be July 6 – 10 at Artist Alley in Section F16, which is two doors down from the Model Railroad Exhibit and Tractor Museum. More details will be announced later!

Be sure to tell all your friends, relatives, neighbors, and colleagues to stop by and see some amazing art because you don’t want to miss out on this!

Hope to see you there!
