Sunday’s tribute sale dedicated to Papa Honesto started off slow, but managed to pick up.
To honor his memory, donations for Save A Tahanan Inc (STI) were accepted and if people donated $20, they would get one free painting. Prior to fair opening, event coordinator Jenn Stafford came to the booth to check on me and I told her that it wasn’t going so well, particularly on 4th of July. She gave me some encouragement and hoped for a better day.
Like the previous four days, it was very slow. Once again, I turned to Michele Plunge and told her the same situation. She said that today was going to be better. Just when I was about to give up, I managed to get a couple of donations for STI, followed by a calendar sale. As more people were looking at my booth, Michele came to donate $20, followed by a card sale. Toward the end of the night, I managed to get another donation and a card sale.
Overall, it was a huge turnaround from 4th of July as I was able to raise $50 for STI, otherwise it would’ve been a lot worse. So far, the first half has been up and down. Despite the slow starts, I was able to make $400. The goal is to break last year’s record of $900 and try to go over $1000.
As we enter the second half, I’m hoping for a stronger turnaround and hope to break that record.
