10th Anniversary Sale (Final Day/Recap)

The final day of the sale started off slow, but had a strong finish.

Prior to opening, a customer bought three paintings which made up from the previous day. Once again, I turned to Michele Plunge for motivation. Even after selling a few cards, it still was slow. When Michele came for the last time, she provided more motivation to see if I could break last year’s record of $900.

As the night went on, a customer bought a painting to push it even closer. She liked it so much, she decided to buy more. So far, the total was $888 and I thought for sure the record wasn’t going to be broken. When I talked to Jenn Stafford, she also provided motivation.

Just when I was about to give up, a customer came in at the last second and bought five greeting cards and a copy of the Kevin’s Cards Magazine, which broke last year’s record and the final total was $943.

Overall, the 10th Anniversary Sale was a memorable one. There may have been some up and down moments, but it was all worth it thanks to increasing the prices and redesigning the booth. If I were to make any changes, maybe I could consider accepting credit card payments in addition to cash since a lot of people have complained about going to the ATM machine.

In addition, I would have the Social Media team help advertise my booth on the first day. All of these changes would help increase the foot traffic and get more sales.

Special thanks to everyone who came and bought stuff from me and to the entire Alameda County Fair staff for making this a special year for me!

Here’s to the next 10 years and counting!
